There's an APP for that

What would happen if you phone were taken away from you for the weekend? Would that impact your life? In what way? What are the top three apps/functions of your phone you would miss the most?

  1. Yes, it would affect me greatly. Almost all of my friends are long-distance, and I wouldn't like not being able to talk to anyone for a whole weekend. Facebook messenger is my most used apps, but two other apps I would miss are the music app, because all my music is on my phone nowadays, and google maps, because I rely on it to get me places more than my car GPS. I am grateful for all the technology we have in our pocket in this day and age. I definitely COULD survive without it, but I enjoy not having to.

  2. If I had my phone taken away for a weekend I think I would be okay but also lost. I am perfectly okay not being on social media and that stuff, but I constantly look at my phone for no reason. Mostly all of the friends I talk with are close by and I can easily see them. Especially since they live with me. I like social media but am not super attached to it I would be able to last a few days without it. I would miss talking to my parents or texting my siblings because they are further away and don’t have easy access to them. The top three apps I would miss would be snapchat, tumblr and just texting/calling.

  3. If my phone were taken from me for a weekend it would not impact me as much if I were to stay indoor but if I were to go out I'd be confused as I would not know how to get in contact with my friends, the apps I use the most would be the messenger app to contact my friends and girlfriend and the chrome app to browse stuff on the internet, maybe the youtube app to listen to music btu otherwise I'd stay in my room and use the computer for it.

  4. I would say that if that scenario happened it would definitely impact my weekend because I need my phone to either contact by message with my teammates or with my coaches, or I use my phone to contact my family and to read the news. So, the apps that I would miss the most is FaceTime, iMessage or WhatsApp and Twitter. Those are the apps that I use the most in order to either contact with the people that is far from me and closer to me as well. And on the other hand, I would also like to stay in touch at any moment about what happens in the world and Twitter or News Apps on order to know what is going on, specially in my country, Spain.

  5. If my phone were taken away from me for the weekend, it would greatly impact how I communicate with people. I wouldn't be able to reach people as easily. I probably wouldn't use social media as much since I look through Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram through my phone. A few main functions I would miss the most would be texting, checking social media and listening to music on-the-go.

  6. It would be a crisis to me. I did experience this once before. I couldn't contact anyone by message because my phone went death while updating the new iOS. I couldn't contact anyone because all contact information is on my phone and once my phone died, Messages app on Macbook also didn't let me send my message out. I can't use LINE in my laptop because the app only works when I have code from the phone. I felt like I had no contact to people if they are not on Facebook and Apple stuff. Except two mentioned apps, I would miss Tango also because weekend is when I call my mother, I wouldn't call her and other relatives while Tango is the only online calling app they use.

  7. I use Facebook, Snapchat, music the most. If my phone would be taken away I would panic. I am so used to my phone being glued to me. It would probably help me be more social. It likes when I was challenged to go a whole weekend with out a phone for my other class. Its really hard because we are so glued to our phones that being with out it will make us feel naked.

  8. I have gone full weeks without my phone when it was broken and I was waiting for a new one. I found it extremely liberating, and I almost didn't want Sprint to return my phone. It impacted my life in terms of I didn't have an alarm and I was scared I would oversleep. Instead, I started opening my blinds and I would wake up with the sun. I think I missed talking to my mom on the phone the most because she lives four hours away, and we usually talk a few times a day. So I missed the alarm, talking, and probably Pandora. I use Pandora throughout the day in the morning, while working out, and while walking to class and work, so the week was very silent. But without a phone, I felt I had to step out of my comfort zone more to communicate and be fully present, which was a nice feeling, because I don't get to do that a lot getting so distracted with my phone.

  9. It would most definitely impact my life. For one, I would feel uninformed since I always use my phone to check information as soon as I think of a question or want to know more about a topic. I would also feel disconnected from my family and friends back home since we mostly talk via text messages and FaceTime from my phone. Though, it would probably impact me positively in the fact that I'd have no choice but to interact with those around me and be present in the moment. That would be the beneficial side of this major inconvenience. The apps that I would miss most while on a cellphone hiatus would be Facebook (since I check it approximately every twenty minutes if I'm not in class), Snapchat (since this is one way how my best friends from home and I keep up with each other) and this new game that I just got that I'm addicted to called 1010!. I would be okay without my phone for FaceTime and messaging since I can do most of that from my laptop if need be.
