CHARACTERS
Who is one of your all-time favorite characters? Think back to your childhood, or your current life, whether from movies, books, or oral narratives told by someone. And makes this character so special and memorable to you?
I would say that Stitch is my all-time favorite character. He is from the Disney movie Lilo & Stitch. Ever since seeing this movie as a child I was in love with his character. He loves and learns to control his temper, which was a way he was created to be. Since he was destructive his “owner” Lilo helped get him to a place he needed to be. He learns to put others first and that family matters. Stitch becomes a part of Lilo’s family and one of my favorite lines is ohana means family and family means nobody is left behind or forgotten. I think that Stitch’s wild character and loving attitude make me like him so much more. With in a series that Disney had created off the movie you see stitch finding his family in another way since Jumba had created other creatures just likes him with other things they would do. Overall I love Stitch because he is loving, caring, wild and crazy and sometimes all at the same exact time. Who could hate him? I would love to have him as a pet, a friend or a little side kick. ~Jules
I had so many characters that I really liked and I still like when I was a kid but if I had to point out I would say either "The Pink Panther" or "The Powerpuff girls." I loved The Pink Panther because I really liked the fact that most of the time they did not talk and it was through actions where you could see what was going on. I really liked the fact that the was always either messing stuff up and trying to play with the detective that was pursuing him. On the other hand, I was really in love with "The Powerpuff girls" specially with the green one because she was the one that had the strongest character and was the bravest and maybe the most hardheaded one, which kind of relates to me a lot. I really enjoyed them because they were trying to change the world and they were just 3 little girls, that is why I really engaged with those cartoons.
My favorite character is Alice from Alice in Wonderland. I loved her because she she always seemed to be true to herself and always seem to get into crazy situations. She always seem to have followed what she wanted to do. Alice spoke to me because she taught me that being "mad" is okay. The whole story spoke to me so it was really hard to pick a character.
My all-time favorite characters come from Disney Channel. Growing up, all I watched was Kim Possible, Lizzie McGuire, That's So Raven, and other Disney Channel shows. It was cool, because at the time, the characters were always three or four years ahead of me, so I kind of grew up with them and learned from what they went through. Seeing Raven have her own fashion business was inspiring to me at the time, because going into high school I thought to myself, "well, what's my thing?" "What can be my talent that makes me stand out from everyone else?" For Raven, it was fashion. For me, it was writing. It may sound silly, but whenever I would go through something in middle school, I would look at how Raven and Lizzie handled the same situation when it happened to them. I think these characters were memorable to me because they were relatable: they were going everything that I was going through, they were strong, and they were successful in friendships and career goals.
My all-time favorite character would have to be Scooby-Doo. I used to watch the television series every Saturday morning when it would come onto Cartoon Network. I've seen almost all of the older movies. What blows my mind is some of my favorite episodes are from 1969. That's almost as old as my parents. I used to be so nervous for the "Scooby and the gang"whenever they would go out to chase the bad guys or monsters. They made different movies, plays, and multiple television series of the same gang chasing after different villains. This show was so memorable for me because i remember watching it at my grandparents house when I was younger. The memories are so vivid, it's like it happened last week.
My favorite character would be Kyon from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Kyon is a normal human being who was dragged into a mess by his classmate Haruhi, against his will he was added to a club to find supernatural things along with a few others. Kyon later learned that everyone in the club was supernatual, an alien, an esper and a time traveler all trying to keep a god from learning about her power. Kyon is the only normal human being and he is given the hardest task, to keep Haruhi from finding out the power she has. What makes Kyon so memorable is the fact that he is just a human and a whiny one on that, he always feels like everything is a drag and whines all the time but still tries his best and even when given what he wants he chooses to do the right thing at the cost of his normal day to day life.
While no one character comes to mind, there are a set of qualities found in most characters which always appeal to me. I generally like characters that are dedicated to what they do, have a good heart, and have been shown to overcome some time of struggle, whether it was in their past or a current part of the story they are in. While I have liked characters that do not always have these particular qualities, the ones that do always stand out. It is important for characters, especially "hero" types, to have these qualities in order to bring them down to a more relatable, human level. -Savanna Blackerby
Tommy Pickels from the Rugrats is one of my all-time favorite characters. I wasn't allowed to watch much T.V growing up, but when I did I would love watching the Rugrats. Tommy Pickles was the leader of the babies, he always had something inspiring or motivational to say to his other baby friends. From what I recall he would stand up to the bully Angelica as much as possible. I owned two Rugarts movies and my favorite one is when Tommy got lost after the birth of his new brother Dill. Tommy was a little jealous of his brothers attention, but since he loved his baby brother he didn't mind to much. I felt connected to Tommy because I am the oldest sibling, and although I love my siblings I would sometimes get jealous of the attention they got. But in the end, just like Tommy I am my siblings biggest protecters. Jaclyn
My favorite character is Lorelai from Gilmore Girls. Lorelia is extremely independent and always finds a way to make every experience positive. Even when things get complicated, she always manages to take care of her loved ones. She is memorable to me because I have watched Gilmore Girls over and over again. Every time I watch she always manages to make me cry and laugh. Her character has several admirable qualities.
One of all-time my favorite characters is Doraemon, who is actually machine-made cat in comic book named Doraemon. A Japanese company brought the comic series into screen as a cartoon by the same name. The reason I am impressed by Doraemon is he is a special and smart cat. His pocket is a mystery, which every kid in my childhood would be curious about. When they adapted into cartoon, it was very funny to me when Doraemon's expression zoomed out. Plus, the friendship between Doraemon and Nobita was an ideal relationship to me, which is having someone who always can be your side to get over all struggles.
