Superbowl Storytelling

Did you watch the commercials during the SuperBowl? If you didn't, take a look at superbowlcommercials2016.org and select one brand you believe was the best at telling an interactive story to the public. Explain your reasoning.

  2. I believe the one who did the best at promoting their brand was Pokemon, even though the beginning was leading us to believe it was a commercial for something else it sent us into the Pokemon world towards the end making it seem like something out of this world, telling us we could be the next Pokemon champion it just seemed like it could hype people to play the game, I also liked what they did with the logo for the 20th anniversary were the 20 is inside a poke ball.

  3. I felt the Marmot Ad did a great job of telling a visual story. The commercial grasps the attention of the audience by being cute and fun, and then take a twist at the end that was funny and relatable. It is easy to follow the marmot and man's friendship and when things take a turn for the worse for the marmot, it made a connection to the audience. It also sent a clear message for people to fall in love with the outside. This commercial showed how branding does not need to be geared directly to the project, but instead it can have other meaning to tell a clear story to the audience.

  4. I believe Heinz ketchup did the best job telling a story! I love how they dressed up the Wenier dogs like hot dogs and then had them run to a family dress like condiments. It was basically saying how both hot dogs and ketchup go hand in hand and how they both belong together. It was really cute and creative. I believe the message was short and cute and appealed to various different audiences.

  5. I thought the Colgate toothpaste commercial was one of the better commercials for this years Super Bowl. It really makes a huge difference if people would shut the water off while they brush their teeth. I know, I've left the water running but if we all turn the water off we could save ourselves some money. This commercial was so powerful. Millions of people around the water have less than 4 gallons a week! Think about how much water we use / waste everyday. Every year someone always develops a commercial that has a message so great butI don't think people realize how big of an impact we could have on places that don't have fresh water. Kudos to Colgate for making millions of people aware just from a short 30 second commercial.

  6. The brand that did the best job telling an interactive story was Pokemon. The brand itself is game based around interactivity within the game and with other players. Aside from that, the commercial shows how ideas spread from one place to the other and connect people together. The commercial shows how one person can be inspired by someone else and create their own story in the process which can be passed along.

  7. For me one brand that did very well was the NFL itself. Their ad Super Bowl Babies was one of my top favorites. I like the idea that they had behind it t the end of Football is Family. Using kids who were conceived due to a super bowl win is just overall very funny. To me how they used this to help their image worked pretty well. Along with the Pantene commercial that used NFL players as well. With all the bad attention some players are receiving, many people don’t want to associate with such a thing. So by bring families together, with these children and older adults who were conceived after a super bowl win is something most people found to be very funny. The story just being that these kids were here because of the super bowl and that is something to smile and be happy about. The longer version is online and is enjoyable to watch. They also used San Francisco in the background helps show where the super bowl was being played and bringing attention to them.

  8. I think that Colgate's storytelling was best at creating an interactive story for the public. The story was simple, yet powerful in and of itself. The commercial asked viewers to consider turning off the faucet when brushing their teeth because #everydropcounts (they also added this social media element). They started with an unidentified man, who clearly just rolled out of bed, going to brush his teeth. He turns on the water, wets his toothbrush and then leaves the water on. As he brushes his teeth, the water runs and we see other people's hands using the water to wash things, to collect it and even to drink it. The commercial is used as a simple reminder that not everyone has easy access to clean water from their faucets, and we do, so we should be responsible with it. Throughout their are facts about water consumption and how much one person can save by simply turning off the faucet. It then zooms out and directly asks those watching to turn off the faucet and then showing their name brand and encouraging viewers to share using the aforementioned hashtag. It tells the story simply and directly while being very persuasive. If I didn't already shut the water off when I brushed my teeth, I'm pretty sure that this would have made me want to do so.

  9. My favorite super bowl commercial was the Budweiser commercial with the dog and the horse. The two animals happened to be best friends and the slogan or hashtag was "#bestbuds". Each year there is some sort of commercial with a dog and horse that pulls heartstrings. I personally love animals and I thought the commercial was adorable. Budweiser was the most successful brand this super bowl season. Not only did they have more than one commercial, they even paid Peyton Manning to say he was going to have a Budweiser in his interview after he won the game. Budweiser was extremely skilled in their advertisements. -Dana

  10. I think Doritos did the best job at conveying their message to viewers during this year's Super Bowl commercials. I like Doritos, because their commercials are always funny which makes them memorable, and leaves people talking about them.
Every year, Doritos runs a contest for viewers to submit their own ideas for the coveted Super Bowl spot. This creates a connection between the brand and their audience.

  11. My favorite commercial of the Superbowl was by Nintendo, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Pokemon. It shows various people of different races and nationalities, including football players, being inspired and challenged by each other. The last guy in the commercial was shown in a Pokemon battle. This was effective because it perfectly incorporated the background of the Superbowl and the idea of athletes challenging themselves, with Pokemon, and tied that into the significance of the 20th anniversary release. The commercial has the power to inspire and make you remember Pokemon and at the same time.

  12. In my personal opinion, Wix 2016 Super Bowl ad is the best interactive storytelling because it uses character Panda, which is promoted currently. The ads was funny with panda as the main character, which catch many fans' attention. The ads also has it hashtag #StartStunning to get panda fans interact to each other. Thus, Wix would be topic to mention to many people .

  13. I did not watch the Super Bowl, I was working. From what I have seen from the media there were some really good commercials. liked the AXE commercial. I really felt that it showed that all males of any age, race, or background can use it. It was a fun commercial that showed males of having fun. I also really liked the Shocktop commercial. I loved that it was in the bar and the insults between the Shocktop orange and the man was a stupid funny. I don't drink Shocktop, but that commercial made me want to go buy some.
