Interactive Narrative Brainstorming
As we start preparing for our first big project of the semester, take some time to brainstorm on potential means of storytelling - whether through a blog, social media (think beyond Facebook to Steller and Periscope instead), a video game, interactive film, or even VR. Think of what genre of story you would like to tell, and share below.

I would like to make my story a video game story, I am thinking about using a program I have called RPG Maker to make a game with a story in which the user can influence the story a bit, I am thinking on making it a fantasy story that is semi fast paced with some action included, common story of a hero against monsters.
ReplyDeleteOther than that I could make an interactive video combining the use of powerpoint and video editors to tell a story in which the user can choose a path which I believe would be interesting, this one could be an everyday life story a bit monotone but there are many bad endings for it, try to survive through the day.
My idea would be to create a Tumblr for my character or characters. I Would tell a story through reposting with text and images. Genera might be either fairy tale or something like Alice in Wonderland. As a back up plan I would also like to explore the medium of interactive film. Or I can portray a day in the life on inanimate objects and give then thoughts feelings and emotions.
ReplyDeleteI have two ideas, I would either create a children's interactive story book or do an interactive documentary about the restaurant I work at. I am not sure what the theme of my children's book would be.
ReplyDeleteFor my interactive document I would take the blue prints and a picture of each room in the restaurant and in each room there will be a staff member, you would click on the person and a video of them would pop up and they would explain their role to keep their restaurant going. Once the video is done, you can click on the next room and another person and video will appear. I would use different staff of the restaurant so you can see how we operate on a daily bases.

I don't really like the idea of using VR, IF or video games. They aren't really my style and go outside of the journalist's realm. Journalists tell the story through the actual reality, not a made up one. So, I'm leaning towards using either audio or video in with my story. Or perhaps an audio slideshow. Right now, the idea of doing an NPR-type (not exactly the same kind of thing) with a related written story would be interesting. Additionally, for an interactive component, I think I'd like to include an interactive infographic/map. Once I decide on a topic (which at this point I really have no idea/1,000 ideas), it should be pretty easy. If I do decide to diverge from actual reality and facts, it'd be in more of a fiction-storytelling manner as opposed to the aforementioned topics since I also like to write these kinds of stories on my own time. So, basically, I'm undecided on both aspects, but these are some of the ideas floating around.

For my project I want to use Steller to create a virtual cook book. I have a google doc with all my Grammy's recipes, so it would be cool to incorporate that somehow into my project. If I could bring back to life her recipes through photos and through stories about my family, I could create something amazing in her memory. Steller allows you to create different collections. My story would be a collection of her recipes and family memories. Right now I have 6 different recipes that my aunt sent me from her cook book, as well as my grandmas list of kitchen essentials. I will try and get old photos from my mom as well to incorporate into my project.
ReplyDeleteI'll also explore other outlets for this project, because if there needs to be a lot of writing along with my photos and videos 20 slides may not be enough, which is all Steller allows. Blogger could also be a great way to showcase her recipes.
I will make my project interactive by showing healthy ways to execute each recipe. I will also give links to cooking tips and research the best way to do things. I will show the recipes in a simple way through Steller and link to longer stories about my family and food through blogger.
DeleteI'm working on a fantasy story for a creative writing class right now, so I want that to coincide with the story I tell here. I might make a tumblr for the main character, or set up a video game plot. Any fantasy story is best suited to an RPG with the player role playing as the main character(s), but I still need to figure out the specifics of the gameplay.
ReplyDeleteI planning on creating a fantasy/adventure story through an interactive novel. The novel would begin with a map, detailing where all of the characters are and allow the reader to choose how they want to start the story. They could decide to follow only one character or multiple characters. As well as text, the novel would contain images as well as interactive puzzles or riddles, which the reader is encouraged to complete in order to progress.

I would start out by taking a picture of what my workout plan each day and what type of foods I eat throughout the day. I would take different progression pictures to try and encourage others to start working out and to be active.
I'll be able to get different ideas for workouts and food ideas from Steller as well. I'll republish and give credit to anything that I use that is not mine.
One of the ideas that comes to my mind would be for example write about my own life about how I became what I have become and what I had to go through, but telling it in third person, personalising in another character. Basically, I would personalise my life in a story with imaginary characters. Another idea would be to tell a story about a basketball game that I participate in, or for another team, and seeing if they let me inside the locker room with them. I would also love to pick a person and write a story about them, kind of like "the life of and the name of the person". I still would have to decide who I would pick to do it about. I am also thinking about writing about Spain and Madrid to show people what is it about.
ReplyDeleteWhat I have more clear is what I would use, I think I would start using prezi and link prezi to videos, another social media and webpages or social networks so people would be able to interact. I would like to search for another apps as well that I could use for my project, but I really like prezi as a starting point and I might stick to it.
I would like to use either the Google cardboard or some form of interactive video source that will be able to take you on a journey. Something that would I am interested in is telling a traveling story. I love to travel, explore and have fun adventures. I think I could make a story about friends on a road trip. It would be entertaining and anything could happen. It will be unrealistic so it is almost fantasy maybe.
ReplyDeleteAnother way I could tell a story is through the steller app. I can plan road trips out that I know I want to do and show that I have been here. Share links to the best food places and free things to do. Each new steller story would be a new place. How I got there and what there is to do and see in that place. I could also use pictures and things I already have so that I can add my own experience as well.

I may plan to do an interactive novel on Inkle. I am not sure what I really want to write, but there is my first option. My leading role would be a girl, who works as a cashier at a department store and can connect to dead. This would be a horror and romantic film. I want to write with different directions, which may lead reader to distinguishing experience.

I was thinking of doing a story of my boyfriend and i we have been together for a really long time and he makes me happy and I think that I will do a video and pictures of him so I think its going to be through steller. I was also thinking of maybe doing a day int he life of Lauren sharkey and I would go through and make a day to day of how my life goes.
ReplyDeleteI have decided that I am going to do an interactive Instagram on how to get healthy in 30 days. I am going to take people with me on my journey to living a healthier life. I would post pictures of not only workouts but healthier food options as well.
